How to choose the right vaporizer for you
By Dee Doyle
There’s a lot to consider before investing in a vaporizer, or a vape as they’re called for short: the size of the oven, how it’s heated, how much flexibility there is when controlling temperature, its size and of course, price point. Weighing your needs against the huge array of products on the market can be confusing.
That’s why we rounded up five of our favourites for various personalities — to make it easier for you to choose the right vaporizer for you.
For the trend-setter: the Pax 3
The Pax 3 is a sleek, light and discreet conduction vaporizer with two ovens: one for concentrates and one for dried cannabis strains. While most vape experts say they prefer convection heating, the trade-off with the Pax 3 is that it’s portable, super easy to use and frankly, it’s a fashionable design. The Pax 3 also boasts customizable features and controls via its smartphone app, such as a “high-flavour” setting, which will retain the terpenes of your Purple Kush for extra-flavourful hauls.
The classic home-vaper: the Volcano
Storz and Bickle’s Volcano is one of the original table top vaporizer models, and it’s still one of the best. It’s known for its plastic balloon chamber, which once filled with vapour from one of your favourite cannabis strains, can be detached and passed around the room. The Classic model has nine heat settings and is a lower price point than its sister model, the Digit.
Portable and low-key: the DaVinvi iQ
The iQ is less flashy than the Pax 3, but similarly portable and sleek. It earns rave reviews for its consistent performance, quality components, precise temperature control and because it’s so under-the-radar.
It comes with two different mouthpiece options (recessed and raised), glass spacers for packing smaller amounts of Jack Herer (or the strain of your choice) , and more custom options in a smartphone app.
